Bach's music was a constant companion in Albert Schweitzer's life. As a student, he explained the textual background of Bach's cantatas to his organ teacher in Paris and as a sought-after virtuoso, he financed his jungle clinic with the concert fees. Even in Lambarene, he insisted on playing Bach's works on a piano every day. He has also written a major monograph on Bach, which deals with issues such as performance practice.

Alois Prinz gives a vivid tour of the life of this extraordinary man, who was above all a great humanist and who said of Bach's music that it could "make all the joy and all the pain that moves a human heart resound in us". Guitarist Johannes Öllinger will bring this to life musically.
