Selected scenes from the life of Anna Magdalena Bach with her famous husband, his music, including the "Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach" written for her, and her suffering and joy in and with the famous family are intended to give an impression of the life of Bach's second wife. The concept is to portray the patriarchal society of the Baroque period as a shadow from which the lively Anna Magdalena Bach emerges, confidently asserting her place both in the faith in which the Bach family was strongly rooted and in society. In the Münchner Ensemble, she does this in three guises: as a player on the piano and harpsichord, as a singer whose clear, bell-like voice once enchanted the young Bach, and as a hard-working, loving and suffering woman who made Bach's work possible in the first place by managing his family and his business. A profound evening of drama, shadow theatre, song and music.
