Selected scenes from the life of Anna Magdalena Bach give an impression of the life of Bach's second wife. Her famous husband, his music, including the "Little Book of Music for Anna Magdalena Bach" written for her, her suffering and her joy in and with the famous family are thematised. The concept is to portray the patriarchal society of the Baroque era as a shadow from which the lively Anna Magdalena Bach emerges. Self-confident both in her faith, in which the Bach family was strongly rooted, and in society, she asserted her place. With the Münchner Ensemble, she does this in three different guises: as a player on the piano and harpsichord, as a singer whose voice as pure as a bell once enchanted the young Bach, and as a hard-working, loving and suffering woman who made Bach's work possible in the first place by managing his family and his business.
A profound evening of drama, shadow theatre, song and music.
