In a matinee performance, the Philharmoniker present two masterpieces by Johann Sebastian Bach: the Suite for Orchestra No. 1 in C major, BWV 1066, and the Concerto for String Orchestra and Oboe d'amore, BWV 1055.
The Suite BWV 1066 is an example of Bach's artistry in orchestration and captures Baroque dance music with lively and elegant movements. The second concert features soloist Yukino Thompson from the Bavarian State Orchestra. The programme is complemented by Rossini's overture to "The Barber of Seville" and Mendelssohn's fourth symphony, the widely acclaimed "Italian".
The Philharmoniker bring these works to life, combining the intimate flair of a matinee with the depth of baroque music. The result is a concert that will delight Bach fans and newcomers alike.

Initially founded for parents, alumni and teachers of the Luwigsgymnasium Munich, the Philudiker Orchestra has been open to anyone interested since 1991. The current 40 members prepare two classical programmes a year and perform four concerts.
These have recently taken place several times in the Hubertussaal Schloss Nymphenburg, but also in the Bürgerhaus Gräfelfing, the Glyptothek and the Scholastika. They also play at district weeks and in community centres.
