Anna Amalia of Prussia ((1723–1787), the youngest sister of Frederick the Great, was not only an educated princess, but also a committed patron of music and a passionate collector of manuscripts. The music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his musical environment took centre stage in her salon.

This concert is dedicated to selected composers whose music remained alive into the 19th century thanks to Anna Amalia's collection and contributed significantly to Bach's rediscovery.
