Flutist Kathrin Beddig explores how Bach uses musical means to transform grief into joy and utilise sound as an expression of vitality. The concert features works that Bach wrote for everyday life: for his teaching activities and for courtly society. She complements these (BWV 846a, BWV 1013, BWV 1004) with her own compositions. The flautist assigns Bible verses and hymns of joy to all the songs in order to refer to one of Bach's most important everyday sources of strength: his spirituality. She takes Bach's "Partita in A minor for solo flute" with reference to dances of the Baroque period as a gospel and develops the "Partita 2.0" as a sermon with reference to dances of the present day. Beddig plays four movements from the "Partita II for solo violin" (arranged for transverse flute by W. Richter). She wants to show that Bach can be a valuable role model for us not only as a musician, but also as a person: to follow one's own voice in life and to keep faith.
