The Gourari-Academy has taught music to children and adults for over 30 years – not only instrumental technique, but also in dialogue with other artistic disciplines. Performing in public, taking part in competitions and master classes are essential constituents of the curriculum. Most motivating for the students are the youth concerts within the Munich concert series MUSICAÈ initiated by Anna Gourari, where the likes of András Schiff and Arcadi Volodos perform. Anna Gourari is one of the most outstanding pianists of her generation. In 1994, she won the Clara Schumann Piano Competition – the jury members were, a.o., Martha Argerich, Alexis Weissenberg, Nelson Freire, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Joachim Kaiser. Film director Werner Herzog cast Gourari in the lead part of a pianist in his film "Invincible" (2001). With the latest of her acclaimed recordings for ECM, "Paul Hindemith / Alfred Schnittke", she has won the prestigious International Classical Music Award.
