Not Brook, But Sea an More #extra

Sarah Luisa Wurmer
Zither player Sarah Luisa Wurmer turns Bach's sixth cello suite into a fascinating new listening experience.

Concert
LUDWIG BECK

Sarah Luisa Wurmer likes creating refreshing combinations of Early and New Music. She plays the treble zither, the alto zither, the rare bass zither and, since her study term in Ulaanbaatar, also the Mongolian "Yatga". Trained at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich and awarded multiple times, she has also won the Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis 2025. Thanks to the award, she has produced her debut album "intimacy". The core of the CD is Bach's Cello Suite No. 6 in her own transcription for the alto zither, the wide ambitus of which can wonderfully reproduce the original's poliphonic lines, harmonies and pedal points. New compositions especially written for this album are purposely set between the movements of the suite: hence, not only dialogues between old and new works are generated, but also a dimension for a fully new listening esperience.
