Wind chimes

Tactile book for the Ahrend organ
Interesting facts about the Ahrend organ can be heard, touched and read.
30.10. – 07.12.2025

Exhibition, Hands-On-Station / Interaktives Format
Deutsches Museum

The tactile book explores Jürgen Ahrend's organ, which was modelled on organs of Bach's time, using all the senses - touching, hearing and reading.

The inclusive book follows the path of the wind through a mechanical organ on eight double pages with texts in black letter and Braille, tactile illustrations and interactive elements until sounds are produced. It also visualises what is "hidden" in the organ. The book is supplemented by audio and in-depth texts as well as sound examples that can be accessed via QR codes.

The tactile book can be used in the musical instrument department and purchased in the shop of the Deutsches Museum.
For more information on the Ahrend organ, see the article in the MAGAZINE of Bachfest Munich.
