A Bach audio biography as a podcast

Anyone who loves music will come across Bach at some point, and some even revere him as the "Dear God of Music". But the composer of the "Matthäus-Passion" was also a person like everyone else, and his life was not always harmonious. Shortly before the start of the Bachfest, the nine-part audio biography with Udo Wachtveitl is available as a free podcast in the ARD Audiothek.

The audio biography tells the whole story of Johann Sebastian Bach from 1685 to 1750: orphan, Kapellmeister, 27 years as St Thomas' Cantor in Leipzig. Married twice, 20 children. A life that provides a fascinating insight into the everyday life of a distant time with unpredictable princes, adventurous journeys and furious religious feuds. Outshone by music that made countless people happy. The Bach quotes are spoken by Albrecht Schuch.
