At the centre of the programme is the second English Suite in A minor by J. S. Bach: the pianist and harpsichordist Anne Roth changes the reprises of the dance movements following the example of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and thus – by varying and recombining the thematic material – brings the spirit of the work and of the time into the present through metamorphosis.
Together with their brother, the cellist and mathematician Fridolin Roth, the Duo Rossofuoco will set the mood for this experiment with J. S. Bach's Viola da Gamba Sonata No. 3 in G minor and finally brings the evening to a brilliant close with Astor Piazzolla's "Le Grand Tango". The concert programme "Bach moves" plays with fluid boundaries – and with fire.
