As part of the Bachfest Munich, Christian Bischof presents Johann Sebastian Bach's "Orgelmesse" – the third part of the Clavierübung. This monumental work, published in Leipzig in 1739, combines Bach's masterly art of organ arrangement with a deep rootedness in the Lutheran liturgy.
The "Orgelmesse" consists of chorale arrangements of the main pieces of the service as well as the Lutheran catechism hymns, supplemented by magnificent preludes and fugues. It is an impressive testimony to the splendour of baroque sound and theological depth.

Christian Bischof, renowned concert organist, interprets this work at the highest level and brings the complexity of Bach's music to life. The current Margaret organ in St. Margaret's Church in Munich, restored and reorganised in 2019/2020 by the Klais/Bonn company, is an outstanding instrument with a clear sound structure. It combines a warm fundamental tone with a clear, colourful sound, creating a harmonious balance between tradition (historical pipe material from 1916) and modernity.

An evening full of musical virtuosity, spiritual inspiration and fascinating soundscapes. A must for all Bach lovers and friends of organ music.
