A small selection from the rich collection of musicians' medals and plaques in the Munich State Coin Collection will be presented. Under the sign of St Cecilia, wonderful portraits of Beethoven, Chopin and Puccini are shown. There are many hundreds of medals on composers and virtuosos created by artists, but only two have made it onto regular coinage: Bach and Mozart. Bach was depicted on 10 DM coins of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2000 and Mozart on the Austrian 1 euro coin issued in 2002.
