Pierre-Laurent Aimard with the SWR Experimentalstudio

Piano meets live electronics: an evening with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Mark Andre.
11.12.2025, 20:00 – 22:00

Concert

Bavarian Radio's musica viva series

With "... selig ist ...", Mark Andre created a fragile "music of disappearance" that carefully explores the sound space and turns inwards between pain and consolation with an almost uncanny intensity.
The approximately one-hour piano piece with electronics, which was written in memory of the "son of a close friend" who died young, is at the centre of this concert with Pierre-Laurent Aimard and the SWR Experimentalstudio.
Before the interval, the pianist, who was awarded the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize in 2017, will dedicate himself to selected preludes and fugues from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier II, which Hans von Bülow reverently called the "Old Testament of piano music".
